We welcomed the Yaroslavl Bears Hockey team to Burlington to play in the Lake Champlain Pond Hockey Tournament in February 2020. It was a great experience for everyone involved and the first time many of the Russian players had experienced playing a hockey game outside on a frozen lake. They got a taste of all the weather that Vermont can bring in the winter, including a major snow storm and then a perfect sunny, snowy day that produced their first win!
In addition to playing in the LCPHC, the Bears had a great meeting with Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger and presented him with a custom Yaroslavl Lokomotiv jersey!
We look forward to more exchanges between our two cities.
Thanks to everyone who came out to support the Yaroslavl Bears!
